A comedian is one who entertains through comedy, such as jokes and other forms of humour. There are many great comedians who entertained us with their comic talent but in here are few top in my list.
1. Johnny Lever
Johnny Lever (born 14 August 1957) is an Indian film actor and one of the most noted comedians in Hindi cinema. Lever is one of the first stand-up comedians in India. Lever has received thirteen Filmfare Awards nominations in Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role, and has won the award twice, for his work in Deewana Mastana (1997) and Dulhe Raja (1998). He began his career in 1984, and has acted in more than three hundred Bollywood films.
2. Kapil Sharma
Kapil Sharma (born 2 April 1981) is an Indian stand-up comedian, television presenter, actor and producer known for hosting The Kapil Sharma Show. He previously hosted the television comedy shows Comedy Nights with Kapil and Family Time with Kapil. Ormax Media rated Sharma the most popular Indian television personality in April 2016. Forbes India ranked him at 11th and 18th in their Celebrity 100 list in the year 2016 and 2017 respectively. In 2013, he was awarded the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year in the entertainment category, and was ranked third in the Most Admired Indian Personality List by The Economic Times in 2015. Sharma was nominated in 2014 for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to spread awareness among people for cleanliness and other hygiene related social issues. For his contribution towards the mission through his show, he was invited to the Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Pranab Mukherjee in September 2015 to acknowledge his contribution.
3. Paresh Rawal
Paresh Rawal (born 30 May 1955) is an Indian film actor, comedian and politician known for his works notably in Bollywood. He was a member of parliament in the Lok Sabha of the Indian Parliament representing the Ahmedabad East constituency from 2014 to 2019. He is politically affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Rawal speaks Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu and English. In 1994, he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in the films Woh Chokri and Sir. For the latter, he received his first Filmfare Award for Best Comedian.
4. Kader Khan
Kader Khan (22 October 1937 – 31 December 2018) was an Indian film actor, screenwriter, comedian, and director. As an actor, he appeared in over 300 films after his debut film in the 1973 film Daag, starring Rajesh Khanna, in which he acted as a prosecuting attorney. He was also a prolific screenwriter for Bollywood films in the period 1970s to 1999 and wrote dialogues for 200 films.
Kanneganti Brahmanandam (born 1 February 1956), known mononymously as Brahmanandam, is an Indian film actor and comedian, known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema. He currently holds the Guinness World Record for the most screen credits for a living actor. He was honoured with the Padma Shri, for his contribution to Indian cinema in 2009. Brahmanandam is regarded as one of the finest comic actors of India, noted particularly for his comic expressions. He has acted in more than 1,000 films to date and has been one of the most highly paid comedy actors in Indian Cinema.
6. Mehmood Ali
Mehmood Ali (29 September 1932 – 23 July 2004), popularly known simply as Mehmood, was an Indian actor, singer, director and producer best known for playing comic roles in Hindi films. During his career of more than four decades, he worked in over 300 Hindi films. Mehmood received 25 Nominations for filmfare awards, 19 for ‘Best Performance in a Comic Role’, while the awards started in 1954, awards for the best comedian category started only in 1967. Prior to that Mehmood also received 6 nominations for ‘Best Supporting Actor’.
7. Rajpal Yadav
Rajpal Yadav (born 16 March 1971) is an Indian actor, comedian, known for his works in Hindi cinema. He never won any award in the film industry but he has won hearts of most Indians through his comic roles.
8. Ali Basha
Ali Basha (born 10 October 1968) is an Indian actor and TV presenter who works predominantly in Telugu cinema. He acted in more than 1000 films in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.
9. M. S. Narayana
M. S. Narayana (16 April 1951 – 23 January 2015) was a popular and highly respected comedian in Telugu films. He died on 23 January 2015 due to multiple organ failure in Hyderabad. Actor and comedian M.S. Narayana, a veteran actor with over 750 films to his credit.
Vadivelu is an Indian film actor, comedian and playback singer. Since the 1990s, he has acted mainly as a comedian in Tamil films and is renowned for his slapstick comedies. Vadivelu has won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian five times for his works.
